What is Conveyancing?
What does conveyancing mean?
Conveyancing is the legal process of transferring ownership of a property from one person to another. When you buy or sell a home, one of our qualified lawyers manage this process on your behalf with the assistance of our friendly and experienced support team. It typically involves:
- Reviewing and preparing legal documents
- Liaising with estate agents and the other party’s conveyancer
- Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements (for example, identification and anti‑money‑laundering checks)
- Carrying out property searches
- If the property is leasehold, liaising with the landlord and any management company and reporting to you as required
- Liaising with mortgage lenders and complying with their requirements
- Reporting to you on the terms of your mortgage offer (purchase matters)
- Drafting the Land Transaction Tax or Stamp Duty Land Tax return for your approval
- Submitting the return on completion of your purchase, paying any tax due on your behalf, and ensuring the legal title is properly transferred and registered
